‘One of the great outfield catches’: Sean Abbott grabs scintillating one-handed catch during SA vs AUS ODI | Cricket News
Australia’s Sean Abbott took a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss South Africa’s Marco Jansen during the third ODI in Senwes Park, Potchefstroom.
The ball was hit towards the boundary ropes, but Abbott ran across and dived full length to take a one-handed catch.
His effort was so good that even batter Marco Jansen was left shell-shocked.
The catch was also a testament to Abbott’s determination and never-say-die attitude. He never gave up on the ball, even though it looked like it was going for six.
The incident occurred in the 47th over of SA’s innings when Jansen was looking for the big hits. When Nathan Ellis bowled one on the full, Jansen went after it and sliced it towards the sweeper cover region.
While it seemed like the ball was going for a six, Abbott appeared out of nowhere, dived full-stretch and completed a one-handed blinder.
As a result, Jansen was dismissed for a 16-ball 32 and the catch soon went viral on social media.
