Make Amrit Mahotsav a festival of people: PM

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took part in the video conference of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which was held in connection with the first meeting of the national committee constituted to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.

This commemoration, named the ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’, will continue for the next 75 weeks. The festival will begin on March 12, 2021.

In his address through video conferencing, the prime minister said that the goal of this event was to make people understand the importance of India’s freedom and freedom struggle.

“The young generation has to be informed about the freedom movement. This is to connect the youth. This event has to be given the shape of a movement,” he said.

The prime minister said that this event was very important for the country. He said that all efforts would be made to make this event a festival of the people.

“It should be a festival in which the struggle for freedom is experienced. This event will reflect the pride of Sanatan India. It will also develop the concept of celebrating 100 years of independence in the year 2047,” he said.

The prime minister said that through this event, stories of unknown fighters of freedom struggle would also be taken to the people.

It is worth mentioning that on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Independence, a state level organising committee has been constituted for the state level Amrit Mahotsav under the chairmanship of the governor. The executive committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the chief minister. The state government has prepared a grand plan for the commemoration.

During the video conferencing, Chief Secretary RK Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary (Information and MSME) Navneet Sehgal, Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Renuka Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Secondary Education) Aradhana Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary (Youth Welfare) Dimple Verma, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Information Sanjay Prasad and Principal Secretary (Culture and Tourism) Mukesh Kumar Meshram and other senior officials were present.
