Virat Kohli best batter, Rohit Sharma the most dangerous: Mohammed Shami | Cricket News

India pacer Mohammed Shami was recently asked to choose the best batter in the world and he replied with Virat Kohli but the 33-year-old also had a special mention for captain Rohit Sharma who he labelled as the most dangerous batter.
“Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world. He has just broken a lot of records. I feel Virat is the best but if you ask me who the most dangerous batter in the world is, I would say Rohit Sharma,” Shami said in an interaction with News18.
However, when he was asked who the best captain was Shami picked Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Explaining his pick, the speedster said, “It’s different for everyone. Everything comes down to comparison. Obviously you will go with the person who is most successful. So, I’ll go with Mahendra Singh Dhoni because whatever he has achieved, no one has been able to eclipse that.”
Meanwhile, Shami has been out of the Indian squad which toured South Africa and has also missed the first two Test matches against England. With his availability for the next 3 Tests still up in the air, India will struggle to manage the workload of their available pacers, most notably Jasprit Bumrah.
India are yet to name the squad for the remaining three Tests. Though Bumrah is certain to make it, the lingering question is when to give him a rest. Last week, despite Mohammed Siraj bowling full throttle at the nets two days before the Test, India’s think-tank decided to send him home from Vizag.
He could have avoided taking the flight to Vizag in the first place, which would have given him a few extra days to spend at home. But it was a decision they took at the eleventh hour, keeping the larger picture of workload in mind and it wasn’t just that of Siraj, but also Bumrah. With both needed for the final Test in Dharamsala, India have to use them judiciously at Rajkot or Ranchi, where they will pair up again.
