Indore Development Authority likely to develop four flyovers on priority

INDORE: In its bid to ease traffic woes, Indore Development Authority (IDA) on Wednesday proposed to develop four out of total 11 flyovers announced by chief minister on priority by spending around Rs 300 Crore at KhajranaTantya Bhil Square (Bhawarkuan), Mhow Naka and Luvkush Square.
IDA chairman Jaypal Singh Chawda on Wednesday called a meeting of local public representatives along with senior officials of the district administration, IMC and other departments concerned for discussion over feasibility survey of constructing six-lane flyovers at aforesaid four major junctions.

During the meeting attended by the state ministers Tulsiram Silawat, Usha Thakur, collector Manish Singh and IMC commissioner Pratibha Pal, suggestions were also considered regarding constructions of the proposed flyovers.
According to IDA CEO Vivek Shrotriya, the CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan had announced to construct as many as 11 flyovers at Vijay Nagar, Depalpur Square, Hotel Radisson Square, Regal Square, Musakhedi Square, Robot Square, IT Square, Khajrana, Tantya Bhil Square (Bhawarkuan), Mhow Naka and Luvkush Square but last four squares have been considered to be developed on priority basis.

“On Khajrana and Luvkush Square, the flyovers will be constructed by incorporating design of metro rail line crossing from there” the CEO said, adding that a flyover on Khajrana Square will be constructed on Ring Road while on Luvkush Square, the facility will be developed on Super Corridor and MR-10 road.
Similarly, a flyover on Tantya Bhil Square (Bhawarkuan) will be developed parallel to AB Road while both the branches of a flyover on busy Mhow Naka Square will start/end towards Lal Bagh Palace and Labriya Bheru Square. “The consultant company has completed a feasibility survey of all four flyovers and expected cost of the same will be around Rs 300 Crore” the CEO said, adding that the proposal will be put in the next meeting of IDA board of directors before allotting the tenders with its approval. All four major junctions are busy squares of Indore, in which, traffic jams are frequent despite erecting traffic signals.
