Many cups of chai and Red Bull: Devon Conway on how he kept himself going during marathon IPL Final

New Zealand and Chennai Super Kings batter Devon Conway recently opened up about how he kept himself motivated and game-ready during the recently-concluded Indian Premier League final, which due to adverse weather condition, took almost three days to complete.
“Very unique – an emotional rollercoaster. I had many cups of chai just to keep myself going that late at night when we were all waiting during the rain break, not knowing how many overs we’d get in our chase. It was a little unsettling. Just before going in to bat, Mike Hussey told me, “Mate, think you want a can of Red Bull to stay awake?” It was hard to stay mentally switched on, given how late it was. So I had a can of Red Bull to get sharp and awake again. It ensured I was switched on from the first ball,” he said in a conversation with ESPNCricinfo.
Conway also went on to talk about his relationship with skipper MS Dhoni. “The relationship I have with MS is cool; he gives me a lot of banter and chirp, quirky one-liners. Now I’ve started to give it back to him. The respect is immense. Every time he walks into a room, there’s an aura around him. You want to talk to him, understand what he has to say because of his status in cricket and what he has achieved,” the swashbuckling batter said.
Conway was instrumental in helping CSK clinch their 5th IPL crown with his 47 run-innings in 25 balls getting them off to a good start. A start which was ultimately finished off Ravindra Jadeja with a six and a four in the last over.
