MP cop’s family accuses woman of blackmail over fake rape case, probe ordered
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur on Friday to probe into the allegations of a police constable’s family that a 22-year-old woman blackmailed them after implicating them in a false gang rape case.

Sanjay Tiwari, the constable who has been suspended, has been absconding since the woman filed the rape case against him and his family members last month.
The woman claimed she was raped again to pressure her to withdraw the case. She alleged that Tiwari and his family members allegedly abducted and gang-raped her for a month.
The SIT was formed after the family approached Chhatarpur Police Superintendent Amit Sanghi.
A police officer, who did not want to be named, said the woman went to the Tiwari’s village on April 17 and demanded money from his father for withdrawing the case. “The father filed a complaint with the police. Earlier too, she filed a rape complaint against a constable in Mahoba but later it was found to be fake.”
Sanghi said the woman has alleged she was returning home on March 18 when one of the accused Ajay Tiwari snatched her phone. She claimed that when she chased him, Sanjay Dwivedi along with four others abducted her.
She accused Dwivedi, his brother, uncle, and two others of repeatedly raping her for over a month. On April 26, she alleged Dwivedi’s father, uncle, brother, and ser abandoned her and forced her to drink something which left her unconscious.
Sanghi said a case was subsequently regered against the nine accused on the woman’s complaint under Sections 344 (wrongful confinement), 376 (d) (gang rape), and 366 (abduction) of the Indian Penal Code.
