MP will make a special place in the export of spices

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the growth rate of the state at 19.7 percent has been the highest in the country at current prices. Agriculture has contributed the most in this. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is constantly encouraging farmers to take more profitable crops along with traditional crops.

Burhanpur has made a special place in the production of spice crops, where turmeric, ginger, coriander, onion are being produced in large quantities. Burhanpur is also a leader in banana, sugarcane and cotton. The economic empowerment of the farmer will be possible through diversification of crops. Chief Minister Chouhan was virtually addressing a national workshop organized for the production, processing and promotion of natural farming of spice crops in Burhanpur today from his residence office.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that remarkable achievement has been registered in the field of agriculture in the state in which the expansion of irrigation facilities has played an important role. With the increase in the area under irrigation, production has greatly increased. Madhya Pradesh is first in the country in the production of wheat. Burhanpur district is considered to be a cash cropping district. There is a need to encourage the cultivation of fruits, flowers and medicines here.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that the country has been a name for centuries in the world in the production of spices. Spices have been going from India to many countries of the world, in which the southern states have been ahead.

Now with the speed with which spices are being cultivated in Madhya Pradesh, surely the state including Burhanpur will also make its special place in the export of spices. For this, it is necessary to focus on packaging, quality control, branding and marketing along with production using advanced technology. The government agency and agricultural experts will have to work in coordination with the farmers.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that it is the need of the hour to encourage natural farming. Human health is being affected by the increasing use of pesticides and fertilizers in agriculture. Natural farming can be encouraged by integrating animal husbandry and farming. The use of conventionally prepared cow dung manure and pesticides made from cow urine are safe for crops. Chief Minister Chouhan said that I am sure that Burhanpur will establish its special place in natural farming along with the cultivation of spices.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that a water panchayat would be organized in every gram panchayat of Burhanpur district on April 30 with the objective of ensuring tap water supply to every household under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Jal Mahotsav will also be held in every village of the district.

Public representatives and officials including MP Gyaneshwar Patil, former Minister Archana Chitnis participated in the workshop. In-charge of Burhanpur and Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairy and Social Justice Prem Singh Patel participated virtually in the workshop. Experts from Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Indian Institute of Soil Science, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Agricultural Universities Gwalior and Jabalpur, Central Agricultural Engineering Institute Bhopal, Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research Pune, Spice Board Kerala and Indian Spices Research Center Kerala attended the programme.
