Ranveer Singh film set to enter Rs 1000 cr club

Dhurandhar box office collection day 21 Update: Dhurandhar has emerged as the kind of film Bollywood desperately needed. It is only the second film after Chhaava to not just make an impact at the box office but also dominate public discourse this year. While Chhaava set early 2025 on fire with record-breaking numbers, Dhurandhar has turned out to be the perfect year-ender—closing the year with renewed optimism for the industry. In just 20 days since its release, Dhurandhar has amassed over Rs 944 crore at the worldwide box office. Remarkably, the film’s 21st day witnessed a higher turnout than its opening day, expected to surpass the Day 1 collection of Rs 28 crore. Dhurandhar earned Rs 26 crore on day 21 as per early estimates, taking its domestic collection to Rs 633.5 crore. Dhurandhar worldwide collection is a whisper away from Rs 1000 crore club.According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film recorded an overall occupancy of 50% on Day 21, a significant jump from its opening-day footfall of 33.81% across India.Story continues below this ad
Despite a slight reduction in screens, Dhurandhar continues to hold strong. On Day 21, the film ran across 4,753 shows—a few hundred fewer than the previous day. The drop came in the wake of the release of Karan Johar–backed Dharma Productions’ Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, which secured close to 3,000 shows nationwide. On its opening day, the film regered an overall occupancy of 32.67%.

Starring Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar has been making headlines for both its acclaim and controversies. For many, the film marks a powerful comeback for Ranveer Singh, who was last widely celebrated for his intense performances in Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani. For others, it has sparked what they are calling the “Akshaye Khanna revival,” with the actor becoming an internet sensation thanks to his performance and a viral dance sequence set to Flipperachi’s FA9LA. The film has surpassed the lifetime collection of Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 to become the highest earning Indian film in 2025.
The film has also claimed the title of the highest-grossing A-rated Indian film globally, a record that had belonged to Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal until now.
That said, the film has not been free of criticism. A section of the audience has labelled Dhurandhar as “well-made propaganda,” even as they acknowledge its technical finesse and cinematic brilliance.
Directed Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar also stars Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun in pivotal roles. The film is jointly produced Jio Studios and Aditya Dhar’s B62 Studios.
The makers have already announced a sequel, scheduled for release on March 19, further cementing Dhurandhar as a franchise in the making.
