2 skulls for $90: Florida woman, selling human bones on Facebook, says she didn’t know it was illegal | World News

A 52-year-old woman from Florida, US, has been arrested for allegedly buying and selling human remains through her store and on Facebook Marketplace.
Kymberlee Anne Schopper, who runs a shop called Wicked Wonderland in Orange City, faces charges for trading in human tissue after police discovered multiple lings of real human bones online. The case has drawn widespread attention due to the durbing nature of the items, which included skulls, ribs, and vertebrae—some priced as low as $35.
Authorities began investigating after receiving a tip in December 2023, along with screenshots from the shop’s Facebook page. According to Fox 35, the lings featured:

During questioning, Schopper reportedly told officers that she believed selling bones was legal in Florida if they were “educational models.” She described the items as “genuine human remains” and “delicate in nature,” as per the arrest affidavit cited Fox News. She also claimed the bones had been acquired from private collectors over the years, though she couldn’t provide documentation for the transactions when asked.
“She confirmed that the store had multiple human bone fragments,” police said, “but mentioned she was unaware the sales were against Florida law.”
According to Fox 35, forensic testing revealed that several of the bones were very old. Some dated back over 500 years, and experts believe they may be archaeological in origin, raising concerns about how and where they were obtained.
Schopper was taken into custody on Thursday night and released the next day on a $7,500 bond. The investigation is still ongoing, with authorities working alongside state and federal agencies to trace the origins of the human remains
