‘20.65L houses completed under PM Awas Yojana (R)’

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that 20.65 lakh houses have been completed against the target of 26.28 lakh, under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) in the state. Over 3 lakh houses have been built in the state, dealing with the challenges even during the Corona period. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural, the Panchayat and Rural Development Department has built about one lakh houses in a short period of one month, that too in adverse weather conditions.

The average time taken for the construction of a house is generally considered to be around 120 days. With the prompt construction of such a large number of houses by the department, the dream of the poor, who were longing for a pucca house for generations, will soon come true.

Chouhan said that in the current financial year, even after most of the districts of the state are affected by floods and excessive rain during the rainy season, maximum 1.60 lakh houses have been completed between July 1, 2021 and September 22. , 2021. So far, more than 20.65 lakh rural families of Madhya Pradesh have got their homes under this ambitious scheme. These were all families that did not have houses or lived in dilapidated kutcha houses. Under the scheme, the unit cost of the house to the beneficiary is Rs 1.20 lakh in plain districts and Rs 1.30 lakh in remote and inaccessible hilly areas in the form of 100 percent grant in installments, based on the progress of the house construction work.
