India will play Pakan, Ireland, Canada and co-hosts USA in the group stages of the 2024 T20 World Cup, confirmed the International Cricket Council (ICC), as they announced the schedule for the ninth edition of the tournament on Friday.

While India had clinched the title pipping Pakan in the inaugural edition in 2007, the latter would go on to lift the trophy in 2009.
The last two winners of the competition – England and Australia – are in Group B alongside Scotland, Namibia and Oman. Having won the competition the last time it had been hosted the West Indies, England went on to beat Pakan in the final to clinch the title in Melbourne back in 2022.
West Indies, who are also hosting the tournament, have been slotted alongside New Zealand and Afghanan in Group C while Group D has the likes of Sri Lanka and South Africa.
While the West Indies – hosting the competition for a second time – has a total of six venues to stage the games, for three venues across the USA will also be hosting an ICC World Cup for the first time. This, four years before the Los Angeles will stage the first-ever inclusion of cricket at the Olympics.
