I’m well and truly done: David Warner confirms he has played last T20I at home after 3rd match against WI | Cricket News
Swashbuckling Aussie batter David Warner said that he might have played the last T20I match in Australian soil after his blering 81-run innings against West Indies on Tuesday.
Even though Warner’s score couldn’t get Australia over the line in the 3rd T20I, the Aussies won the series 2-1. After the 37-run defeat on Tuesday, Warner said that he will be playing the New Zealand series and then the IPL before hinting that the T20 World Cup might be the last time he plays in the shortest format.
“Good to see the boys play. I’ve got a lot of time off after the next series in New Zealand before the IPL and then to get ready for the T20 World Cup. Great to spend quality time with my kids and just be home,” he said.

“I’m well and truly done, we’ve got so many youngsters, it’s time for them to do the job,” he added, all but confirming that this was the last T20I home match of his career.
Last week also, Warner had hinted that the upcoming T20 World Cup will be his last in national colours. “Pleasing to get the win on the board. Was a nice wicket to bat on and you have to make the most of those. Feel great and refreshed, I’m pumped. I want to play the T20 World Cup and finish there. It’s a good journey we’ve got going for the next 6 months. Pretty much the same squad going to New Zealand so it’s important we win there as well,” Warner had after the 1st T20I.
Last month, Warner played his last Test match for the country at Sydney and Warner scored another smashing half-century in his final innings.
Warner has had an illustrious career for the Aussies. In 112 Test matches, the gutsy left-hander made 8786 runs at an average of 44.6, scoring 26 tons and 37 half-centuries. He also has a mammoth 335 against Pakan.
