Cillian Murphy, who starred in the original 2002 film, returns as executive producer.
The trailer of 28 Years Later opens with scenes of a ravaged UK and depicts the chaos that unfolds as survivors navigate a landscape overrun the infected. 28 Years Later continues the legacy of the franchise that began with 28 Days Later, a genre-defining horror thriller that reimagined the zombie apocalypse through the lens of a viral outbreak. Its 2007 follow-up, 28 Weeks Later, expanded the scope of the story with a darker, more militarized tone and introduced new characters grappling with the aftermath of the outbreak. 28 Years Later promises to build on that legacy while exploring new ground — and new horrors — in a world still haunted the Rage virus.
Produced Danny Boyle, Alex Garland, Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, and Bernard Bellew, 28 Years Later will be released in theatres on June 20.
