50% of teaching and non-teaching staff of the higher education department vaccinated
BHOPAL: Around 50 per cent of the staff members from the department of higher education have been vaccinated till date. The vaccination drive is on and department expects 100% vaccination of its employees by this month.
The corona pandemic has taken a heavy toll in the higher education department as well. Over 80 professors from colleges and universities across the state have succumbed to corona till date. More than three dozen non-teaching staff members have also lost their lives because of the pandemic.
According to officials of the higher education department, over 1500 employees including vice chancellor, registrar, professor and guest faculty had tested corona positive but fought back bravely and are back on duty.
The officials say that there are about 15,000 people working in the department and over 50 per cent of them have been vaccinated. Good part of it is that they took the initiative on their own and got vaccinated, said the official.
ìNow our focus is on the remaining staff members. Principals and professors across the state are motivating others to get the jab,î said the official. Colleges across the state are expected to start new academic session from the month of September.
Through sustained campaign we want that all staff members- teaching and non-teaching- be inoculated so that later students too could be motivated for the vaccination, said the official.
