Do you know certain animal species can regrow their limbs? Don’t be so shocked. The healing powers of the primitive not only act as a defence mechanism, they also help them stay alive and ahead when it comes to surviving in the animal kingdom. Let’s take a look at some of these species:
1. Sea cucumber:
They have the ability to repair their organs in short durations, regrowing damaged parts and healing deep wounds in as little as a week. This ability also helps them defend from crabs or turtles. They also jettisons certain organs as a draction technique.
2. Starfish
These marine creatures have five limbs that they can regrow and detach from their central disc. Some species can even complete the entire process backwards aka regrowing their entire body from just a lost arm. In order to do so, the starfish stores nutrients in its arms till it regrows its mouth.

3. Axolotl
As a relative of the salamander but even more skilled at regenerating, the axolotl can regrow not just ts tail but also limbs, skin and almost any other body part. This pale pink creature has since become the focus of research into human limb regeneration.

4. Salamander
The amphibian can regrow a lost tail in its entirety, using a process which lets the cells migrate to the wound. The finished appendage is completely functional and has all the features of the original, with the spinal cord and nerves growing back too.
5. Mexican tetra
Scients performed surgery to remove some of the heart of river fish and cave fish from the species Astyanax mexicanus, finding that while some river fish do regenerate tissue, the cave fish just grew scars over the damage.Researchers in Mexico last week described how they are studying cave-dwelling tetra fish to better understand why some animals can regenerate tissue but others can’t.
6. Sharks
Even though they can’t regenerate other body parts or organs, they are masters when it comes to dental regeneration, growing back their teeth multiple times during their lifetimes. 7. Chameleons
Despite their widespread popularity as color-changing beings, chameleons can also regenerate their body parts such as tails and limbs. They can also heal their damaged nerves.
