With comedian Conan O’Brien making his debut as host, the 2025 Oscars was a grand spectacle, bringing together the biggest names in the entertainment industry.

Although Emilia Pérez topped this year’s nominations with 13 nods, including Best Picture and Best Director, director Sean Baker’s romantic comedy-drama Anora emerged as the ceremony’s biggest winner, taking home five awards — Best Picture, Best Actress (Mikey Madison), Best Director, Best Film Editing and Best Original Screenplay. Among the night’s standout moments, Adrien Brody won the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of László Tóth in Brady Corbet’s The Brutal.
The Academy Awards was held at the Dol Theatre in Los Angeles. For the first time, the Oscars were streamed live on JioHotstar, starting at 5.30 am on Monday (March 3).

While big-budget films like Dune: Part Two and Wicked have dominated the box office, the nominees also include mid-budget successes, indie standouts and streaming releases. Collectively, the films have grossed approximately $2 billion worldwide, with Wicked alone earning $472 million in North America — more than all the other nominees combined. Emilia Pérez, which did not have a domestic theatrical release, has, nonetheless, made $15 million globally.
