Pakan has beaten South Africa today 33 runs at SCG in Sydney. The men in green have kept their chances to qualify for the semi-finals alive.
How can Pakan qualify?
South Africa lose to the Netherlands
If South Africa loses to the dutch at the Adelaide Oval. Pakan has to win their game against Bangladesh at the same venue later that day. In that case, Pakan will go through to the semi-finals as South Africa would be on five points and Pakan will get to six points.
South Africa beats the Netherlands and India loses to Zimbabwe
If South Africa beats the Netherlands and India loses to ZImbabwe at MCG then Pakan manages to beat Bangladesh they can get through to the semi-finals as Pakan’s NRR is +1.117 and India’s is +0.730. If the possibility may come through both teams will end up with six points each and South Africa will have seven points.
South Africa vs Netherlands- No result
If the game gets washed out due to rain Pakan will qualify for the semi-finals if they beat Bangladesh as they would have won more games than South Africa. If the possibility is to come true South Africa would have won two games and two no results for their six points on the other hand Pakan will have three wins.
However, if India’s game is to get washed out there would be any implication on Pakan’s chance as India would get to seven points. Maximum Pakan can get to is six and South Africa is seven.
In every possible scenario, Pakan has to beat Bangladesh to give itself a chance.
