Woman thrashed, hurled abuses with caste remarks in MP’s Khargone

An elderly woman was allegedly tied up and assaulted in Khargone drict of Madhya Pradesh a group of people while hurling caste remarks. A video of the incident has emerged on social media. The incident took place on Friday afternoon in Hirapur village, Live Hindustan reported.Also Read | Man beaten to death four for spending money they gave him to clear electricity billThe victim, tied for at least two hours and thrashed, alleged that the accused did not want her to live in their neighbourhood because of her caste. She also claimed that she was repeatedly threatened that her house will be demolished. The woman identified the accused as Ganesh Yadav, whose wife and mother also allegedly beat her up. After abusing the victim, the family allegedly broke into her home and tied her hands and legs.Also Read | Karnataka man beaten to death in rehab centre, say copsThe woman also claimed that the accused threw caste remarks at her. She approached the SP office on Saturday to file a complaint. According to the additional superintendent of police, a case has been regered in the Sanawad police station under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and an investigation was underway. He also stated that following the investigation, legal action will be taken against the accused.In a similar incident that took place on January 9, a Dalit man was allegedly assaulted and held hostage overnight for offer praying at a temple in Salra, Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi. In this case, five men from the upper-caste were booked.
