Spanish athlete with ‘76% disability’ finishes marathon | Trending

Preparing and competing in a marathon is no easy feat. Many people prepare in advance, exercise, and even do practice runs to finish the marathon in a given time. It requires a lot of body stamina and a strong will to run. Alex Roca, an athlete from Spain, displayed all the qualities as he finished the Barcelona Marathon. His strong resilience has struck a chord with many people.

According to Canadian Running Magazine, Roca completed the Barcelona Marathon in 5 hours, 50 minutes, and 51 seconds. He even shared a video of him reaching the finish line on his social media. “HORY HAS BEEN MADE! The first person in the WORLD with a 76% disability to have managed to finish a MARATHON: 42.195 km (sic). This has been possible thanks to ALL my team. Thank you to ALL who have been cheering. I AM SPEECHLESS,” wrote Roca in his Instagram post.

Nike wrote, “Alex set himself to accomplish a world-class breakthrough: Finishing a marathon with 76% physical disability and Cerebral palsy. Now, he has just achieved that milestone. It’s time to enjoy it, but new goals will show up sooner rather than later. Never done looking for new challenges.”
