Watch: Joe Root plays a scoop shot in the Rajasthan Royals nets ahead of the IPL 2023

England star batter Joe Root has started his preparation for the Indian Premier League 2023 season as he hits the nets of the Rajasthan Royals. The Englishmen played some sublime drives along with a scoop shot in the video posted the franchise on their social media.
This is the first time Root has been brought a franchise in the auction. With the addition of the former England skipper, the Royals would be hoping to lift the trophy for the second time in their hory.
His English teammate Jos Butler arrived earlier in the week. Courtesy of Butler and Yuzvendra Chahal’s heroics last season the Royals reached the final but could not go past the final hurdle in Gujarat Titans to lift the trophy.

The Royals will look to go one more step forward from the last season and lift the trophy this time. Hence they have continued to show faith in the coaching staff from the last season.
Kumar Sangakkara will continue to serve in the dual role of Rajasthan Royals’ director of cricket and head coach, and will be assed Trevor Penney, the franchise said earlier this month.
Fellow Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga also continues with the franchise as fast bowling coach, along with Zubin Bharucha as strategy, development and performance director, Giles Lindsay as head of analytics and technology, Siddhartha Lahiri as support coach and Dishant Yagnik as fielding coach

Rajasthan Royals will start their IPL 2023 campaign on April 2 in Hyderabad against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The royals have been crowned champions in the inaugural season of the IPL.
