Watch: KKR captain Nitish Rana and coach Chandrakant Pandit take blessings at Kalighat temple ahead of RCB vs KKR
Ahead of the high-voltage Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders clash at the Eden Gardens, KKR skipper Nitish Rana and coach Chandrakant Pandit visited the iconic Kalighat Temple in Kolkata to seek blessings.
In a video shared Knight Riders’ official Youtube channel, the two share their thoughts on the significance of visiting a temple.
“Personally, the faith in God that I have deep down…I might not be among the ones who visit a temple everyday but I believe that of all the challenges that I have faced in life the only one to help me out of it is God,” said the newly appointed captain.
“Whatever I’ve achieved so far has been because of God,” he added.
Coach Chandrakant revealed that he will pray to god for his team’s success, players’ fitness and to grant them the courage to sail through crucial situations.
“I have a similar emotion as you. I believe in God as there is a power behind it (achievements) and we must not forget that and so whenever I get an opportunity or someone says that I must visit a temple I visit,” he said.
“My players would be fit, that my players are enthusiastic, that my players would be blessed with the strength to play tough cricket and maily, bless us with the courage to navigate through tough situations.”
“I pray that god blesses us with strength to enter the ground to play cricket and may we be blessed with a fighting spirit,” he added.

Meanwhile, KKR will be playing their first match at home after the pandemic. They last played at Eden Gardens on April 28, 2019 — a 34-run win over Mumbai Indians.
The excitement will be at an all-time high for both teams, with crowd-puller Virat Kohli in the visitors’ dug out.
The home side looked a shadow of their past in their season-opener, which was interrupted a floodlight glitch before the skies opened up but they will certainly want to bounce back and pick up the winning momentum in tonight’s battle.
