‘Chin up, lad’: KKR’s heartwarming message to Yash Dayal after Rinku Singh snatches away a win
In a heartwarming message to Yash Dayal, who conceded 31 runs off last over, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) took to Twitter and wrote,”Chin up, lad. Just a hard day at the office, happens to the best of players in cricket. You’re a champion, Yash, and you’re gonna come back strong.”
The gargantuan Narendra Modi Stadium proved to be too small and an asking rate of 29 too less for KKR’s Rinku Singh, who hammered five consecutive sixes to seal a miraculous three-wicket win over Gujarat Titans in the IPL at Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Just when it seemed everything was lost for KKR after wily Afghanan spinner and stand-in captain Rashid Khan had taken a hat-trick in the 17th over to reduce KKR to 155/7, Rinku (48 not out off 21 balls) did the Houdini Act to eke out one of the most memorable wins in the hory of the IPL.

KKR needed 29 runs in the final over to attain the winning target of 205. Umesh Yadav took a single to give the strike to Rinku, who looked like a genius with the bat.
It seemed like he was waving a magic wand, which could fetch him a maximum at his beck and call. With 28 needed off the last five balls, Rinku took the aerial route on all five deliveries to conjure up magic hardly ever seen before in an IPL game.

Hailing the young star Rinku and comforting Yash, Team India and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma also took to Twitter and wrote, ” IPL is truly a place where talent meets opportunity. Unbelievable innings, Rinku! 👏 And tough luck Yash, one to learn from.”

The International Cricket Council (ICC) compared Rinku’s five sixes to Carlos Brathwaite’s four sixes in 2016 T20 World Cup final. Brathwaite earned the ‘Remember the Name’ moment when he hit Ben Stokes for 4 back-to-back sixes to propel West Indies to their 2nd T20 World Cup trophy win.
