RCB vs LSG tip-off XI: Mark Wood set to return for LSG, De Kock to miss out, Parnell to play for RCB
IPL 2023: After being humbled 81 runs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) would be eager to return to the winning ways against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday.
RCB started the campaign with a thumping win over Mumbai Indians but was blown away KKR after being the dominating the match initially. On the other hand, LSG had two wins and one loss from their three games. They started off with a thumping 50-run win over Delhi Capitals, then lost to CSK 12 runs in a high-scoring match but bounced back brilliantly with a five-wicket win against Sunrisers Hyderabad at home.
Here are the few tip-offs ahead of the match
Mark Wood set to return
England quick and the tournament joint leading wicket taker Mark Wood was down with flu and missed the previous game but is set to return. The pace of Wood woule be a challenge for RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. Wood bowled four wicketless overs for Chennai Super Kings, conceding 49 runs, back in 2018 in his only IPL match before this season. He is now looking for redemption, having taken eight wickets in LSG’s first two matches so far. He started with a bang taking a five-wicket haul against Delhi. He followed it witha three-for against CSK.
Quinton de Kock to miss out
Kyle Mayers form has made him undroppable. Mayers has scored 139 runs in three innings at a higher strike rate (187.83) than any of the top 15 scorers in the tournament so far. It is highly unlikely that Quinton de Kock will get back into playing XI straightaway.
Wayne Parnell to play
England fast bowler Reece Topley has been ruled out of IPL 2023 after dislocating his right shoulder during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s opening game of the tournament against Mumbai Indians on April 2. South Africa allrounder Wayne Parnell has been named Topley’s replacement. Parnell, last played in the IPL in 2014. He was part of the Pune Warriors side from 2011 to 2013 and then represented Delhi Daredevils (Now Delhi Capitals) in 2014. He has played a total of 26 matches in the IPL, taking 26 wickets. Parnell may replace Michael Bracewell in the playing XI.
