Watch: Emotional Sachin Tendulkar reveals he has never gone and watched Arjun play before his IPL debut

Legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar revealed that he had never watched his son Arjun Tendulkar play in a competitive match before the 23-year-old made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
“This was a new experience for me. Till now, I have not actually gone and watched him play,” Tendulkar said in a video posted on IPL Twitter handle.
“I just wanted him to have that freedom to go out and express himself whatever he wanted to do. And today also I sat in the dressing room because I didn’t want him to let him move away from his plans and start looking at the mega screen here and suddenly realised that I was watching there. I was inside,” he said.

Sachin and Arjun became the first father-son duo to play in the IPL.

Arjun, today you have taken another important step in your journey as a cricketer. As your father, someone who loves you and is passionate about the game, I know you will continue to give the game the respect it deserves and the game will love you back. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/a0SVVW7EhT

“It’s a different feeling because 2008 was the first season for me and 16 years down the line, he plays for the same team. Not bad,” added Tendulkar Sr.
