I gave you singles and you gave sixers: Devon Conway to Shivam Dube after CSK’s win over RCB
Star performers of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Devon Conway and Shivam Dube were in conversation after the team’s 8-run victory over hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday night. The fifties from Conway (83 off 45 balls) and Dube (52 off 26) helped CSK to put 226 on board which was CSK’s highest-ever total against RCB at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
In the video posted the IPL official social media handles, Conway told Dube, “Tonight was a great night. For me personally, I was very happy with the way things went as It was a really good wicket to bat on. I managed to form some good partnerships with Ajinkya (Rahane) who’ve done really well up top here. And then obviously with you out in the middle was a great partnership and I gave you the singles and you gave us the sixers, so very enjoyable night.
Conway and Rahane smashed Bangalore bowlers all around the ground while piling runs for their team after an early hiccup. The fine partnership between Conway and Rahane took their team beyond the 50-run mark in the powerplay. The duo slammed Harshal Patel for 14 runs with the help of one four and one six. Wanindu Hasaranga then broke the 74-run partnership between CSK batters as he dismissed Rahane for 37 in the 10th over of the game. The left-handed batter Shivam Dube then came out to bat.

With a stunning six over the deep mid-wicket, Dube stitched up a 50-run partnership stand with Conway in 26 balls. The duo smoked Vyshak for 19 runs as they slammed two sixes and one four in the 15th over. On being asked about his 111-meter six, Dube said, “Probably I have some natural power in my body but getting some extra meter in this match was just because of the fans and the Chennai team for their support that got extra sixes from me in this match.”
It (atmosphere) was great and probably we enjoyed playing at RCB ground- probably one of the best matches we play in the IPL- and great support fans so enjoyed it a lot.”
Reflecting on RCB’s effort of going closer to the target, Conway said,” I think it was a pretty special effort tonight. You know I think the guys put under some pressure. From Glenn Maxwell and Faf du Plessis, the way they have played. But yeah, the way they (CSK bowlers) pulled it back, you know getting those wickets at crucial times and during the death we saw from Tushar (Deshpandey) was special.
Shivam Dube also mentioned the two great catches the skipper and wicketkeeper MS Dhoni behind the stumps and Conway added, “These were crucial catches. There’s always one guy who went under the high ball and that’s MS Dhoni.”
