IPL 2023: Kuldeep Yadav lauds Delhi’s bowling, raises questions over batting
Delhi Capitals spinner Kuldeep Yadav praised the bowler’s efforts but said batting requires a lot of improvement after their seven runs win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League on Monday.
“We believed it as a team and as a bowling unit, we had done really throughout the tournament. We still need to improve in our batting,” Kuldeep told the reporters.
“We didn’t get a wicket in the pack but we bowled really well throughout the 20 overs. We kept the pressure on them not giving the easy boundaries.
If @davidwarner31’s reaction can sum it up… 😀 👌@DelhiCapitals reger their 2⃣nd win on the bounce as they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad 7 runs. 👏 👏

“I thought we really bowled well in the powerplay, gave away on 35-36 runs. Thereafter myself and Axar, we just kept us in the game in the middle phase and in the last four overs, Nortje and Mukesh bowled exceptionally well,” he said.
Axar Patel scored 34 runs as Delhi struggled to 144-9, then he took 2-21 in four overs as Hyderabad slumped to 137-6 and failed to complete a routine chase.
Hyderabad needed 13 off the last over and Delhi gave the ball to medium-pacer Mukesh Kumar with an extra fielder inside the circle because Delhi was penalized for not finishing its overs in time. Kumar wasn’t fazed: He gave up only five runs.
“He bowled well in the last game as well. He is playing his first IPL, he is improving day day. Bowling in the death overs are never easy,” said Kuldeep.
Kuldeep also lauded captain David Warner for sticking the plans.
“He has played here for seven years. He knows the conditions well and that’s why he opted to bat first.
“Wicket was slow and he thought it probably is difficult to chase. As a bowling unit, he believed in us. He gave freedom to each and everyone,” said Kuldeep.
Delhi will again lock horns against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 29 at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium.
