It would not be wrong to see Ganguly in a changed role: Irfan Pathan believes former India captain should be DC head coach
Delhi Capitals have had a nightmarish Indian Premier League 2023 so far. After 12 outings this season, David Warner and Co sit at the bottom of the points table with eight defeats and just four wins.
This has come as a surprise to many given the resources at disposal of the franchise that include a star studded management team that conss of Ricky Ponting as the head coach and Sourav Ganguly as the director of cricket.
Former India seamer Irfan Pathan believes it may be time for a switch of roles if Delhi are to do better in the upcoming season.
“Sourav Ganguly’s presence in the Delhi dugout is a big deal. I think if Dada is given the responsibility of coach as well, he can make a big difference in this team,” Pathan told Star Sports.
“Dada has knowledge of the psychology of Indian players. He knows how to run the dressing room and Delhi should definitely take advantage of that. At the time of the toss, Warner has said that his team has now started preparing for the next season and in this context, it would not be wrong to see Ganguly in a changed role,” he further added.
Delhi face Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings in their final two fixtures in the league stage, with little chances of a playoffs spot.
