“I was just resting my eyes between balls and just relaxing,” Labuschagne told SEN’s Cricket.
“I was trying to calm my nerves a little bit, you can’t watch the game all the time, I got up there and was awake pretty soon.
The Australian No 3 was peppered with the barrage of short stuffs from the Siraj, in the first couple of balls, he faced. Labuschagne was hit on the arm twice, he fall on the floor, he was tested but he remained unbeaten on 41 at the end of day’s play with Australia leading 296 runs and have six wickets in hand.
“I didn’t have too many rests there when Siraj banged that first one in,” he said.
A streaky India was finally bowled out for 296 before tea and Australia padded its already huge lead of 173 runs on the first innings with 123 more stumps.
India did well to take four wickets but the target was becoming ever more imposing on a misbehaving pitch.
