Watch: Joe Root pulls off one-handed stunner to dismiss Travis Head in 2nd Ashes Test
Joe Root pulled off a sensational catch at short leg to dismiss Australia’s Travis Head in the penultimate day of the 2nd Test at Lord’s on Saturday.
In the 68th over, Stuart Broad’s short delivery leads Head to hop and fend it with the bat. As a result, the ball lobbed to the left of short leg where Root pounced and pulled off the blinder with his left hand.
Root also became the highest outfield catcher of all time for England in Test cricket with this catch with 176.

On the 3rd Day of the Test, England had succumbed to the bumper-barrage, tamely swatting away to a packed on-side field. Australia had men at the boundary, and also close- and England couldn’t find a way.
England then aped the tactic on Saturday afternoon. When Ollie Robinson started it, it didn’t seem to make much dent at his pace. Then came along Broad and Josh Tongue, and things started to change, as Australia lost Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith and the aforementioned Head to bouncers.
At Lunch on Day 4, the match is balanced evenly with England taking 3 wickets while Australia mamanged to score 92 runs, extending their lead to 313 runs.
