Criano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr banned FIFA from regering any new players
Criano Ronaldo’s current club Al Nassr has been banned FIFA from signing or regering new players due to their failure to pay Leicester City £390,000 in add-ons for Nigerian player Ahmed Musa who joined the Saudi club in 2018.
According to reports, Al-Nassr were told back in 2021 that they would have to pay Leicester the money owed after the ruling was officially released.
The club was also warned that failure to comply would result in them being banned for three consecutive regration periods.
The club had recently appointed Luís Castro as their coach, confirming the appointment from a preseason training camp in Portugal. The length of the coach’s contract was not disclosed.
The 61-year-old Portuguese is best known for his two seasons in Ukraine with Shakhtar Donetsk including home and away wins over Real Madrid in the group stage of the 2020-21 Champions League. He spent last season in Brazil with Botafogo.
They have also signed Marcelo Brozovic from Inter Milan and have been linked with Hakim Ziytech from Chelsea.
Al-Nassr is among four top Saudi clubs effectively nationalized last month being taking into majority ownership the sovereign wealth Public Investment Fund. PIF claims to have assets of around $700 billion and is chaired Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
