Ashes 2023: James Anderson replaces Ollie Robinson in England’s playing XI for Old Trafford Test

James Anderson will replace Ollie Robinson as England has announced their playing XI for the fourth Ashes Test be played at the Old Trafford, starting from Wednesday.
“Lancashire seamer James Anderson replaces Sussex seamer Ollie Robinson from the side that defeated Australia in the third Test at Headingley last week,” ECB said in a statement.
Earlier this week, Ollie Robinson has declared his availability for the fourth Ashes test despite getting injured in the team’s win over Australia in the third match of the series last week.
Robinson sent down just 11.2 overs at Headingley before suffering a back spasm. While he had a six-ball cameo with the bat and fielded in Australia’s second innings, he did not bowl again.
England has also shown its faith in Jonny Bairstow keeping the wicketkeeper for the fourth Ashes Test.

Bairstow has played poorly behind the stumps, missing eight chances of varying difficulty in the first three games. He has also fired only once with the bat, making a run-a-ball 78 on the first day of the series. He has a combined 63 runs since then.
Australia leads the series 2-1. England needs to win both of the remaining tests to reclaim the urn.
