Rishabh Pant made ‘significant progress’ in rehab; started batting and wicketkeeping in nets, says BCCI

Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant has made “significant progress in his rehabilitation”, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a press release on Friday.
The wicketkeeper-batter has been out of action since been involved in a horrific car crash on December 30 last year which required him to undergo surgeries on his leg.
The BCCI statement also said that Pant had “commenced batting as well as keeping in the nets”.
“He (Pant) is currently following a fitness programme designed for him which includes strength, flexibility and running,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in the statement.
The BCCI also issued medical and fitness updates on the other four players currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, including Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Prasidh Krishna.
The update said that Rahul and Shreyas had resumed batting in the nets and are currently undergoing strength and fitness drills.
“The BCCI Medical Team is satisfied with their progress and will increase their intensity in terms of both skills and strength and conditioning in the coming days,” read the update.
Meanwhile, on Bumrah and Krishna, the statement said: “The two fast bowlers are in the final stages of their rehab and are bowling with full intensity in the nets. The duo will now play some practice games, which the NCA will organise. The BCCI Medical Team is pleased with their progress and will make a final decision after assessing them following the practice games.”
