Time running out for Sanju Samson, he has not cashed in on opportunities: Parthiv Patel | Cricket News
Sanju Samson missed out on yet another chance to make a strong claim for his spot in the Indian side after scoring just seven runs in the second of the five-match T20I series in the West Indies.
Samson is one of the most talented batters in India, but has been struggling to find consency.
Samson, who has often been used as a floater in the batting order, has also not been able to get into a rhythm.
He probably needs to be given a fixed batting position so that he can build his innings and score big runs.
However, former India wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel spoke to Cricbuzz and observed that Samson has not cashed in on opportunities that have come his way so far.
“Every time India loses, we look at the negative points. Throughout the white-ball series, there has been talk about the need for batters to bat long and it is something that has been missing so far. Every time Samson is not in the squad, we talk about him, but he has not cashed in on the opportunities he has availed of so far. Probably time is running out for him, maybes yes or maybe no,” Parthiv Patel told Cricbuzz.
“Samson has been getting a lot of opportunities, to be honest, he is just not making the most of the opportunities that he is getting. There was only one batter who looked comfortable and that was Tilak Varma,” he added.
Samson needs to be more patient with his shot selection and he needs to be more confident in his own ability. If he can do that, he will be a force to be reckoned with in international cricket.
