inod Khanna health update: Actor is stable and will be discharged soon, says hospital
This week, news that veteran actor and politician Vinod Khanna had been admitted to the hospital grabbed headlines. Khanna was reportedly suffering from severe dehydration, and was hospitalised at the HN Reliance Foundation and Research Centre in Girgaum on 31 March 2017.
“Mr. Vinod Khanna was admitted to Sir HN Reliance Foundation hospital on Friday with severe dehydration. He is under the care of our doctors and has responded positively to the treatment and is now stable. His family thanks his well wishers for the good wishes and requests to respect their privacy.”
His son, Rahul Khanna, had said that the doctors would discharge the veteran actor soon.
“Dad was hospitalised for severe dehydration. The situation was quickly brought under control, he’s doing much better and the doctors are looking to discharge him soon,” Rahul told PTI at the time.
“Our family is most grateful for the extraordinary care hes been receiving at the hospital and we are touched by all the good wishes pouring in,” Rahul added.
However, a photo doing the rounds on WhatsApp shows Vinod Khanna looking extremely emaciated and frail. The photo, clearly taken in the hospital room by a visitor, depicts Khanna leaning on his wife for support. Sources from Firstpost Hindi inform us that his wife Kavita is present at the hospital taking care of the actor.
Firstpost has chosen not to publish this image as it would have constituted a gross violation of the actor’s privacy, as well as that of his family.
The photo caps weeks of conjecture over the health of Khanna, who is the MP for Gurdaspur constituency and was last seen in the 2015 Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dilwale.
