‘Whether or not you win the World Cup, don’t lose to Pakan’: Shikhar Dhawan says the intensity during Ind-Pak game is unmatched | Cricket News
Shikhar Dhawan has said that the match between India and Pakan has always been of high-intensity whenever the arch-rivals lock horns.
The neighbours are suppose to play against each other in multiple occasion in the recent months. They are tipped to face each other in Asia Cup, Asian Games and then the much-awaited ODI World Cup clash in Ahmedabad.
Recalling the India-Pakan games in which he has been part of Dhawan says there is always been exciting with lots of pressure as well.
“It has always been the case of ‘Whether or not you win the World Cup, don’t lose to Pakan’ (laughs),” Dhawan said in a video posted Star Sports.
“But winning the World Cup is also important and God’s grace hopefully we will. There’s definitely excitement (while playing Pakan) but also a lot of pressure.
“There’s definitely a satisfying feeling playing against them when the match ends. Whenever I have played Pakan, we have won mostly.
“The intensity on the field is also high, but there’s also some light chat with them.”
Dhawan, who has represented India in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is, enjoys batting in the ICC tournaments and has an astounding record as well, but the rise of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan has forced him to sit out.
The veteran opener has an excellent record in the ICC’s 50-over tournaments (two Champions Trophy and two ODI World Cups. He has scored six centuries and amassed 1238 runs at an average of 65.15 in the ICC’s one-day tournaments.
