BCCI media rights: Viacom18 bags TV and digital rights for next five years | Cricket News

The BCCI media rights auction for the 2023-2028 cycle took place on Thursday and Viacom18, a joint venture between Paramount Global and Reliance Industries, won the digital rights for India’s home cricket matches for the 2023-2028 cycle.
The auction was conducted in Mumbai, with three companies bidding for the rights: Disney Star, Sony Sports, and Viacom18.
Viacom18’s win is a major coup for the company, which has been looking to expand its sports portfolio.

Disney Star had bagged the rights in 2018 for Rs 6,138 crore (Rs 60 crore per match). That valuation has now reached Rs 5,966.4 crore for the five-year cycle – at Rs 67.8 crore per match.
