Mitchell Starc to end his IPL hiatus next year | Cricket News

Australia pacer Mitchell Starc is set to end his nine-year hiatus from the Indian Premier League (IPL) ahead of the next year’s T20 World Cup in the United States.
“I’m definitely going back in (next) year,” Starc told the Willow Talk cricket podcast.
“Amongst other things, it’s a great lead up to the T20 World Cup.
“So a good opportunity to see if anyone’s interested in the IPL, then lead into the T20 World Cup.
“And it’s somewhat of a quiet winter next year … in comparison to this winter, so I think a perfect opportunity to put my name in.”
If picked in the auction, it would be Starc’s first appearance in the tournament since 2015. Starc has made 27 appearances for Royal Challengers Bangalore nad has bagged 34 wickets. He missed the 2016 season due to injury.
In 2017, Stacr didn’t put his name in the auction, while in 2018 he was bought Kolkata Knight Riders before withdrawing because of injury.
One of the major reasons Starc has previously sidelined the IPL is his desire to ensure he is fully available for Test cricket. Most Read

Starc has played 82 Tests so far and he has earlier reaffirmed his desire to reach the 100-Test milestone. According to Australia’s future tours program, Starc, who has played 82 Tests, could reach the 100-Test milestone during the 2025-26 home Ashes series at the earliest.
“To choose not to do certain things to prolong playing for Australia, I’ve tried to be smart about that,” Starc told cricket.com.au ahead of this year’s Ashes series.
“Yeah, the money’s nice, but I’d love to play 100 Test matches. Whether I get there or not, I don’t know, but that would be a nice one to tick off. Hopefully there’s a little bit left in me.”
