The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma had said after the game on Monday that it was only ‘five minutes before the toss’ that he was made aware that Iyer wouldn’t play owing to a back spasm.
Playing in his stead was KL Rahul, who was also marking his comeback from a thigh injury, and scored a century to help India get to 356/2 in their 50 overs and eventually thumping Pakan 228 runs.

Iyer, who had been out of action since he was ruled out during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year, has been named in the 15-member squad for the ODI World Cup squad.
