Mo Salah was ready to go to Saudi Arabia but the Reds locked him up: West Ham striker Michail Antonio makes sensational claim | Football News

Mohamed Salah was repeatedly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia during the recently concluded transfer window, with some reports suggesting that he could be set to become the highest-paid player in the world. But Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp had categorically stated that Salah was not for sale and the doors on a possible exit were shut down.
However, West Ham striker Michail Antonio has now come out and claimed that Salah was keen to leave Liverpool this summer amid interest from Saudi Arabian Al-Ittihad.
“He didn’t turn that down, no way,” Antonio told the Footballer’s Football Podcast.
“He was locked up and the Reds had put that red arrow across: “You are not going anywhere,” he said.
“He did not stop that at all. To be fair to him, he didn’t kick up a fuss and let them do what they were doing. But I know for a fact that he was ready to go,” he added.
Antonio also spoke about how Salah had other motivations after spending six years at Anfield.
“What else can he do at Liverpool? He’s done it. It’s [Saudi] a great opportunity for him, he is a Muslim man and it had everything screaming out for him,” said Antonio.
“There was no actual negative for the man to not go. I understand he has a contract, which he has fulfilled,” Antonio explained. Most Read
