Rohit Sharma broke a plethora of records on the day as India defeated Afghanan eight wickets to join New Zealand and Pakan on two wins from two games.
Rohit Sharma smashed 12 fours and five sixes on his way to the fastest century for an Indian batsman in a World Cup game, and he went past Chris Gayle’s record for the most number of sixes in international cricket (three formats combined). Gayle had hit 553 in his career. Rohit now has 556 sixes.

“When I started playing the Game I never thought that I will be able to hit sixes. Leave alone that many sixes,” Rohit said on the BCCI.tv.
“There is lot of work that has gone in over the years. I am quite happy with the work I have done in so many years.
“I am sort of person I will not be satisfied. I want to continue to do what I have been doing. My focus will be on continue to do what I do. But yeah, it’s a small little happy moment for me,” he said.
Rohit also had a message for Chris Gayle. He said: “Universe Boss is Universe boss. I have taken a leaf out of his book.
“Over the years, we have seen him. He is such a six-hitting machine, wherever he plays. We wear the same jersey No 45 and No 45 has done it. I am sure he will be happy about it.”
It was Sharma’s seventh World Cup hundred — the most an Indian batsman — and his 31st in ODIs. He is now third on the l of all-time ODI hundreds, after compatriots Sachin Tendulkar (49) and Virat Kohli (47).Most Read

“We are looking at every game and we are not looking too far ahead. It is a different format with nine league games then the semifinals and the final.
“For us it is to focus on the small small things. I thought we played a brilliant game today.
“The bowlers did an exceptional job to restrict them under 280 was a great effort because the wicket was really good to bat on.”
