Cricket, squash on cusp of making cut for LA 2028 Olympics; Compound archery, lightweight sculls take a hit | Sport-others News
Cricket stands one step away from making a comeback into the Olympic fold after an absence of over a century. This comes after the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Executive Board, on Friday, recommended the sport’s inclusion for the Los Angeles Games in 2028.
The sport is set to be a six-team event, with the hosts USA likely to get a direct berth leaving five spots for other teams to vie for. The qualification process will be announced at a later date, the IOC said. Most Read

Squash, flag football, baseball and lacrosse are the other sports set to be included in the LA Olympics.
Following the executive board’s decision, the IOC Session will now vote on the matter on Monday to formalise the addition.
Meanwhile, compound archery will not be a part of the LA Games, with beach sprint rowing being the only new discipline to be added to exing programme. This also means that lightweight sculls, another event where India racked up medals at the recently-concluded Asian Games, will take a hit.
