‘I’d love to still be playing in four years’ time’: Joe Root | Cricket-world-cup News
England talisman Joe Root has hinted at his ODI future ahead of England’s ICC World Cup clash against Afghanan on Sunday at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi. The 32-year-old did acknowledge that the defending champions were not at their best in their opening game against New Zealand.
“I’d love to still be playing in four years’ time,” Root would say according to BBC. The right-hander in 164 ODI’s scored 6405 runs at an average of 49.27 which includes 16 tons and 38 half-centuries.
“Every team in this tournament poses slightly different threats. We’ve got to be really adaptable to be able to combat that. We’ve just got to look to keep getting better. We weren’t where we wanted to be in the first game but we were considerably better in the last game against Bangladesh,” he added. Most Read

After a pasting against The Blackcaps in the second game England did make a resounding comeback beating Bangladesh 137 runs in their second game.
Root also talks about the importance of a win against Afghanan and the momentum boost it would give to The Three Lions. “This is another opportunity for us to take another big stride forward and keep building that momentum towards the business end of this tournament, and making sure we are where we need to be the back end.”
England is currently lingering in the mid-table in the fifth position in the points table while Afghanan are at the bottom. The Delhi surface has been extremely helpful for batting in the tournament so far and the England batting unit might enjoy the surface.
