Hangzhou Asian Para Games, Day 2: Prachi Yadav claims gold for her 2nd medal at the event as Indian athletes add 17 medals | Asian-games News

The fourth edition of Asian Para Games officially got underway with medal events from 22 October. India had won 14 medals at the 2010 edition, 33 in 2014 and 72 in 2018. In Guangzhou at the inaugural edition, India had won 1 gold while that number went up to 15 in Indonesia. In Jakarta, India finished 9th overall in the medals tally.
Horically, much like the Asian Games, track and field have contributed most to the India medal tally at the Asian Para Games. Before the 2023 edition, India had won a total of 119 medals and 60 of those came from athletics.

On Day 2 of medal events at the fourth edition of the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, Indian athletes added 17 more medals to the tally with three gold, six silver and eight bronze medals. Prachi Yadav, who had opened India’s tally at the Games, added a gold medal to her earlier silver while pol shooter Rudransh Khandelwal also won his second medal of the Games.
Once again, it was track & field where India had the most joy with 10 medals coming on Tuesday, including a podium clean sweep in Men’s Discus Throw-F54/55/56 led Neeraj Yadav. Deepthi Jeevanji won gold in Women’s 400m-T20.
