So dominant was the performance that the Eden Gardens crowd emulated their Wankhede counterparts, chanting “Kohli ko bowling do” (Give the ball to Kohli).

Even head coach Rahul Dravid had jokingly referred to as Kohli as India’s “wrongfooted in-swinging menace” in the pre-match press conference on Saturday.

“The fact is that yes, we will not be in a position to have a proper sixth option. We do have the option to call upon our wrongfooted in-swinging menace and with the crowd behind him, I’d back him for a couple of overs. The crowd was commanding his bowling last match and we became very close to giving him an over. And then we got Surya who can turn his arm over a little bit and Rohit has bowled a bit as well,” he said in a light hearted manner in the pre-match press conference at the Eden Gardens.

Kohli reached the landmark when he scored a single off Kagiso Rabada in the 49th over of the Indian innings in front of a packed Eden Gardens crowds that kept chanting his names.
With this the Indian maestro added another feather to his already illustrious cap while continuing his rich vein of form in the tournament.
He remained unbeaten on 101 and faced 121 balls in his knock that had 10 shots to the fence.
