‘South Africa certainly have a potent attack’: Mitchell Starc before SA vs AUS World Cup semi-final | Cricket-world-cup News

Australia is on a seven-match unbeaten streak going into the semifinals. Pat Cummins’ lineup lost its opening two games to India and South Africa but rebounded strongly to secure a semifinal spot well ahead of time.
Opening batter David Warner, with 499 runs in nine games, and spinner Adam Zampa, with a tournament-leading 22 wickets, have led the turnaround. Then, allrounder Glenn Maxwell set the tournament afire with two stunning knocks. The first was against the Netherlands in Delhi, where he smacked the fastest World Cup century off only 40 balls.
The second was against Afghanan in Mumbai when Australia was down to 91/7 in a 292-run chase. Maxwell, cramping and in pain, plundered an unbeaten, stand-and-deliver 201 off 128 balls in what is widely regarded as one of the greatest ODI innings ever played. It firmly set the momentum with Australia as it prepares for the playoffs.
Having been part of Australia’s 2015 ODI World Cup win, Australia seamer Starc insed that the Kangaroos would not be overawed the occasion of a knockout match on Thursday at the Eden Gardens. Most Read

“Looking back at 2015, I think they were the only ones who could beat us, certainly at that tournament stage, but we did not play them. It’s funny now that we play everyone; they had the better of us in Lucknow. Both teams have kept a close eye on each other,” said Starc before adding,  “South Africa certainly have a potent attack and I have no doubt that conditions at Eden will be different from Lucknow.”

“Whether it’s goosebumps or not, it’s just another game,” he said. “I’ve played a lot of one-day cricket … (performing in big matches) is not really spoken about.
“It’s a very calm group, this one, and fairly experienced with a couple of younger, less experienced guys gelling in really nicely.”
“We seem to be peaking at the right time which Australia tend to do in tournament play,” he concluded.
