Australia vs Pakan: Controversy erupts over rac term in PAK scorecard, Cricket Australia apologizes | Cricket News
A huge controversy erupted during Pakan’s warmup game in their tour of Australia when an Australian journal posted a TV grab from the Fox Cricket broadcast where the scoreboard showed the rac term ‘Paki’ as a reference to Pakan.
It happened during Pakan’s warmup game vs the Prime Miner’s XI at the Manuka Oval on Wednesday. The blunder led to Cricket Australia being left red-faced and they produced an apology which was also quoted journal Daany Saeed, who had pointed out the initial error.
“The graphic was an automatic feed from a data provider which had not been used previously for a Pakan game. This was obviously regrettable, and the error we corrected manually as soon as it came to light,” Saeed wrote on X, saying that it was a clarification from CA.

Earlier, Saeed had tweeted, “The choice to run with “PAKI” on the Fox ticker over the traditional “PAK” is…quite a choice,” along with a screengrab of the blunder.
For the uninitiated, ‘Paki’ is a rac term for a person from Pakan or South Asia birth or descent.
In the match, Pakan captain Shan Masood struck 201 not out as his side declared the first innings at 391 for 9. Jordan Buckingham was the pick of Australian Prime Miner’s XI with figures of 5/80 as he dismissed Imam-ul-Haq (9), Babar Azam (40), Sarfaraz Ahmed (41), Aamer Jamal (5) and Mir Hamza (8).
In reply, Australian Prime Miner’s XI reached 149 for 2 at stumps on Thursday.
Pakan will play three Tests against Australia as a part of the ongoing series with the first Test taking place in Perth from December 14-18.
It’ll be followed the second Test in Melbourne from December 26-30 and finally end with the third Test at Sydney, scheduled to take place from January 3-7.
