However, the Indian skipper’s return was cut short with the bat after a disastrous miscommunication with Shubman Gill at the non-striker’s end saw him dismissed without scoring a run.
It happened in the first over of India’s chase as Rohit played the ball towards mid-off which was saved a diving Zadran. Rohit had already ran out of his crease and reached the non striker’s end but Gill was caught ball watching and did not leave his end. Ultimately, Rohit was the one who was run out and he exchanged a few choice words with Gill before walking off with a disgusted look in his face. Here’s the video:

Gill, who went on to dispatch a couple of neat strokes, was also dismissed shortly afterwards as India went two down in the powerplay.
Earlier, Mohammad Nabi (42 off 27) and Najibullah Zadran (19 off 11) provided finishing touches as Afghanan scored 158/5 after being put in to bat first India. From the hosts, Mukesh Kumar and Axar Patel nabbed a couple of wickets each.
The ongoing three-match series is the last set of games India are playing ahead of the T20 World Cup in June.
