IPL 2024: MS Dhoni uses special sticker on cricket bat as he hits nets ahead of new season | Cricket News
After visuals of Mahendra Singh Dhoni hitting the nets emerged ahead of the start of the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League, eagled-eyed fans of the cricketer noticed that the former India captain had pasted a special sticker on the bat’s face.
Fans noted that Dhoni has been training recently with a bat that bears the sticker of the name of his childhood friend’s sports shop. His bat had a ‘Prime Sports’ sticker on it.
Prime Sports is a company owned the former India captain’s childhood friend Paramjit Singh. This is Dhoni’s unique way of promoting his childhood friend’s sports goods shop.
Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions coming into the IPL 2024 season. CSK had defeated Gujarat Titans, led Hardik Pandya, in the IPL 2023 final.
In the past, Dhoni has been vocal about the support that he received from his close circle of childhood friends during the early days of his cricketing career.
It must be noted that it was one of Dhoni’s friends who had helped him land a bat sponsor for the first time in his career.
In the 2016 biopic for the legendary India cricketer, called ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, Dhoni’s equation with his friends was portrayed on the big screen. Paramjit, was one of MS Dhoni’s childhood friends, was a pillar of support to the former India captain.
Ahead of the 2024 season, Dhoni’s CSK teammate Deepak Chahar backed his captain to play a few more seasons in the glamourous league, stating that Dhoni had kept himself really fit.
“I think he has a lot to give to cricket. He can play for another 2-3 seasons. I have seen him bat in the nets. Obviously, he had an injury that anyone can have, people at 24 have that same injury that he has,” Chahar had told news agency PTI in an interview.
