Umesh Yadav shares a cryptic post after being overlooked the selectors for IND vs ENG series | Cricket News
After India announced the squad for the remaining of the three-match Test series, Umesh Yadav has shared a cryptic post on his Instagram, directing towards him not being picked again despite doing well in the Ranji Trophy.
The 36-year-old, who last played a Test match in 2022 has been given a cold shoulder the selectors.
Umesh posted a story on his Instagram, saying: “Kitaabon par dhool jamne se, kahaaniyan khatm nahi hoti (If there is dust on the book, it doesn’t mean the story is over).”
The post was indirect dig towards the selectors and the team management for not picking the pacer due to his age.
Umesh Yadav is playing for Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy and the right-arm pacer has picked 19 wickets four matches.
With Mohammed Shami out injured, there are question marks on Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness and Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar with form, Umesh could have a better bet. But instead the selectors have picked Bengal pacer Akash Deep.
With regards to Bumrah’s workload management, it is understood that with the medical team not raising any concerns for now, India are likely to play him at Rajkot. In the two Tests so far, Bumrah has been the lone Indian bowler who has managed to consently put pressure on England. With his reverse-swing breaking England’s back in both the Tests and the pacer finding his old rhythm back, India believe his presence will be all the more vital in Rajkot.
In home matches, Umesh Yadav has taken 101 wickets in 32 Test matches at an average of 25.88. The speedster has a better record in Indian conditon. No Indian quick has picked as many wickets as him since 2018 – 43 wickets in 11 matches at 18.25 with two five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul.
