Sakshi Malik accuses WFI of using devious means to get UWW suspension lifted, threatens to protest again | Sport-others News

Former wrestler Sakshi Malik on Wednesday warned the government that they will resume protests once again if “Brij Bhushan or his group” are not barred forever from the federation. She also alleged that national federation chief Sanjay Singh had used devious means to get the suspension on WFI lifted United World Wrestling (UWW).
“We came to know yesterday that Sanjay Singh had done some setting with UWW to get the suspension lifted. Brij Bhushan and Sanjay Singh have left no stone unturned to show that they are above the law,” Sakshi said in a video posted on ‘X’.
“Our protest has only been suspended. I might have retired from wrestling but I will not tolerate Brij Bhushan or his people running the federation and harassing women. In the next 2-4 days, we will contact the people associated with our agitation and chalk out the future course of action. I urge the government (to ensure) that Brij Bhushan or his group are barred forever from (running) the federation and some good people are entrusted the task to do the job. Otherwise, we will have to restart the path of protest,” warned Sakshi.

Sakshi also alleged that the Sanjay Singh-led WFI had misused the federation’s funds conducting parallel nationals.
“The (IOA-constituted) ad-hoc committee conducted the senior nationals in a very professional manner. We welcomed that. Brij Bhushan and Sanjay Singh started breaking all the rules conducting parallel nationals (in Pune) and threatening the coaches and referees and misusing the federation’s money,” she said.
The United World Wrestling on Tuesday lifted the suspension it imposed on the WFI.
The UWW said the reinstatement of WFI – after it served a suspension for six months for failure to conduct its elections – is conditional. As a part of the deal, the WFI – led a close aide of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, accused of sexual harassment the country’s top wrestlers – has to provide the UWW with ‘written guarantees that all wrestlers will be considered for participation without any discrimination’.
